While staring out our huge front window the other day, the perpetual fall of rain came to a stop. Everything seemed still and quiet. So I grabbed Penelope (our puppy) and went to investigate further. Now many people might associate a rainy spring day in Chicago with well, sort of icky...but I have to say it was one of the most serene moments I've had in this city. In our lovely backyard that we were so lucky to find, we have started making a garden. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant, a plethora of peppers, a wild rose bush and some beautiful petunias. Not to mention a monster of a grape vine that looks as though it's inhabited our fence for years. The backyard just seemed so full of life and peaceful that I almost forgot that we're in the middle of a huge city. It's hard to explain the green exuberance coming off these plants, so I took some photos.
